First Annual HealthFerm Meeting: a successful workshop, fruitful discussions, and an insightful company visit in Zurich
After the first year of the project, the HealthFerm consortium came together for their first Annual Meeting from the 5th-6th of September 2023. ETH Zurich kindly hosted the meeting at their beautiful campus in Zurich, Switzerland.
Before the Annual Meeting itself, an afternoon was dedicated to a workshop on omics principles in fermentation technology for interested consortium members. The workshop concluded with a tasting of fermented foods, where participants brought samples of fermented foods of their choice. More information on the workshop can be found here.
The first day of the Annual Meeting focused on the progress of the different work packages related to the work performed in HealthFerm. Throughout different breakout sessions per work package, individual partners updated their colleagues on their progress. Inter-work package discussions allowed further in-depth explorations of topics connecting the workflow of different working groups. On the second day, work package feedback sessions were organised, during which all consortium partners were updated on the progress made in every work package.
After the Annual Meeting, consortium partners were invited on a company visit at Planted Foods, one of the dedicated HealthFerm partners. During this visit, consortium members got the chance to see the process of the making of plant-based meat and do tasting sessions of the different products produced by Planted Foods.
All in all, the foundations have been laid for another successful year in the HealthFerm research. Looking forward to meeting next year in Helsinki!
